Breaking news: Datin Seri Endon passes away on Oct 20
Datin Seri Endon Mahmood, the wife of Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, passed away at 7:55 a.m Thursday at Sri Perdana, the Prime Minister's official residence in Putrajaya. She was 64. Endon, who underwent several months of intensive chemotherapy in Los Angeles, returned home 18 days ago and continued her treatment. Endon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 following shortly after her elder twin sister was found to be having the decease. Noraini passes away in January 2004. She left her husband, her son, Kamaluddin, her daughter, Nori and her four grandchildren. Datin Seri Endon Mahmood is one of the twin daughter to the couple of late Dato' Mahmood Ambak and Datin Mariam Abdullah. Born 24 December 1940 in Klang, Selangor. Endon and Nor Aini lived in Kampar in 1951 when their late father who was a mining assistant in the Department of Mines, was transfered there to help oversee about 60 mines in the district. She was schooling in SK Methodist (then Anglo-Chinese School), Kampar and St. Mary Secondary Girl's School, Kuala Lumpur. Datin Seri Endon has spend a lot of time for community activites, and charity events especially for children and women. Her charity project include The Bosnia Relief Fund, The North Korea Children Fund, and Kosovo Relief Fund. Besides, she is also the president of BAKTI and chairman of Yayasan Budi Penyayang Malaysia (PENYAYANG) and gives excellent leadership service to all charity and social events. Besides charity events, she is also the big supporter of handicraft industry and ready to promote handicraft art include batik. She also have the personal collection of traditonal clothing and house handicraft. To me, the death of Datin Seri Endon is a big loss not only for our country but also the people of our country. On behalf of my family, I would like to extend my greatest condolences to Pak Lah and his beloved family. May her soul laid rest in peace.
